Dear Friends of Sunfield,

HOE DOWN, ANYONE? You’re invited to join us for an evening of family square dancing fun at the Chimacum Grange on Saturday evening, March 24th from 6-9 pm. Jeannie Murphy will be the caller, backed up by our Sunfield band. There will be a pot luck dessert. Please join us and meet some of our parents, students and staff.

IT’S DONE! The remodel of half our office building into a classroom was completed last week, the permit issued and Ms. O’Dell’s class of twelve 5th & 6th graders moved in Monday morning. This effort was completed mostly by our parent volunteers, with a few specialty jobs performed by outside contractors. This will now allow us to have two separate kindergarten classes.

FENCING with AmeriCorps: Last month, I mentioned this spring’s big perimeter and wetlands fencing project. Our application to AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) was accepted and we will be hosting a crew of 10 young adults, 18-24 yrs old, from March 21 – May 10. In collaboration with Ft. Flagler State Park, the crew will be housed there in exchange for doing volunteer work at the Fort. The bulk of their work time will be spent here. Putting up fencing will be a big part of the work they do over their 7 weeks here. There is no cost to Sunfield for this great boost to our farm projects.

The 2012 Sunfield CSA is now available to subscribers. The details are on our website: www.sunfieldfarm.org. Farmers Neil and Verity are back from vacation, full of growing energy and preparing the farm for the upcoming season.

ANOTHER WAY TO HELP SUNFIELD: We are seeking lenders to invest in Sunfield and help us restructure our debt so it is manageable. We need $85,000 in loans of at least $5,000 each to repay two community lenders who helped us purchase this land, put in the infrastructure, and buy the classroom buildings. Investors will be repaid monthly over 10-15 years. We are offering interest rates of 0-5.0%, to be chosen by the Lender. If you can help, please contact me ASAP.

Thanks to you, our donors and supporters, Sunfield has taken root and is beginning to flourish in the fertile soil that is Jefferson County. Without you, we couldn’t do it.
