Situated amidst a working farm in Chimacum Valley, Sunfield Waldorf School offers a holistic academic education enriched with the daily rhythms of farm life. Gardening, sustainable farming, and animal husbandry are integrated into both our early childhood and K-7 school Waldorf programs.
Sunfield is one of only a handful of schools in the nation located on a working farm and offers a rare educational opportunity where students not only follow an established Waldorf curriculum, they participate in farm activities on a daily basis. The Waldorf system began in the early 1900s and has become the fastest-growing independent non-denominational educational movement in the world, with approximately 950 schools in more than 60 nations.
From preschool through the grades, Sunfield students learn about the world through their whole beings – hands, heart, and mind – with the innovative and richly artistic Waldorf curriculum.
Our eighty-one acres of fields, forests, and wetlands serve as a natural playground for our younger students and an invaluable educational resource for our older students, providing hands-on agricultural and environmental learning experiences that enhance many of our academic studies.
For the 2010–2011 school year, Sunfield Waldorf School will offer classes for pre-K through grade seven; we will have a full pre-K through grade eight program in the 2011–2012 school year.
