E-Newsletter November 30, 2011

Dear Friends of Sunfield,

Here at Sunfield we have a great deal to be thankful for: a wonderful school for the 105 children who are enrolled, the biodynamic farm which has just concluded a successful CSA (community supported agriculture) season serving 34 families with weekly veggies, the forests, wetlands, pastures and meadows which are frequented by our students, visiting students, volunteers doing community service work, our goats, cows, sheep, and chickens who provide a learning laboratory for all those who come here, as well as manure for our gardens, and for all those, like you, who support the tapestry of projects and activities that make up Sunfield Land for Learning.

As we enter into December and approach the winter solstice, I invite you to two upcoming events:

• “The Christmas Carol,” Dickens’ beloved play performed by our 7th & 8th graders at the Chimacum Grange, 7 pm, December 9th and 10th. Our oldest students work hard and perform beautifully at all of their performances.
• Our winter Spiral Festival on December 16th at the Chapel at Fort Worden.

Shortly you will be receiving our 2010-2011 Annual Report which gives an overview of all we have accomplished during the last school year. It will also have a way for you to further support the work of Sunfield in the areas of the school, farm, community education and our capital campaign which is closed to being launched.

While we have accomplished much, there is much more still to do as we build on our successes and learn from our mistakes. We are thankful that you have chosen to support Sunfield as we transform this former dairy farm into a Land for Learning for a wide variety of people.

With my best wishes for the coming holiday season,
Jake
